Evidence-Based Treatment and Eating Disorders: A General Practitioner's Guide

CE Hours 6

About this course

This six-hour, introductory workshop will provide an overview regarding how to identify and diagnose an eating disorder in adults and adolescents, and how to determine the most appropriate level of care (outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospital, residential or inpatient) and treatment approach based on diagnosis. Through case discussion and didactic instruction, attendees will learn how to execute these steps effectively in clinical practice. We will also discuss how to assemble a multidisciplinary treatment team and review basic elements of evidence-based eating disorder care. Finally, participants will learn how to determine whether treatment is effective and what to do if treatment is not effective.
